{"id":3644,"date":"2022-02-13T16:35:45","date_gmt":"2022-02-13T16:35:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sportsengine-develop.go-vip.net\/detcityfc\/?post_type=sec_roster&#038;p=3644"},"modified":"2026-03-11T20:45:03","modified_gmt":"2026-03-12T00:45:03","slug":"michael-bryant","status":"publish","type":"sec_roster","link":"https:\/\/sportsengine-develop.go-vip.net\/detcityfc\/roster\/michael-bryant\/","title":{"rendered":"Michael Bryant"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Midfielder <strong>Michael Bryant<\/strong> returns to Detroit City FC for his fifth season with the club, after appearing in 36 matches last season &#8211; the second-highest total amongst all DCFC players in 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Throughout the 2024 season, <strong>Bryant<\/strong> played in 34 matches, starting in 26. His only goal of the season came during the 4-0 road victory against Miami FC. He recorded 36 interceptions on the back line. <strong>Bryant<\/strong> joined an illustrious list of club legends late in the 2024 season by becoming the fifth club centurion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2023, <strong>Bryant<\/strong> started in 32 of the 34 matches played, achieving a career-high 63 interceptions throughout the season. In 2022, he recorded similar statistics in his first season with Le Rouge, starting in 24 of the 30 matches. He scored his first goal while wearing a Detroit shirt just three matches into his tenure, coming on as a second-half substitute and netting the final goal in a 4-0 victory over Atlanta United 2. <strong>Bryant<\/strong> added three more goals throughout the season, but his 47 interceptions significantly contributed to DCFC&#8217;s first-ever USL Championship playoff appearance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Portola Hills, California native joined DCFC in February 2022, prior to Detroit City\u2019s entrance into the USL Championship. Before joining, <strong>Bryant<\/strong> spent three seasons with the Cal United Strikers, starting in 36 of the 39 matches in which he appeared. <strong>Bryant<\/strong> was the NPSL\u2019s Orange County FC captain from 2017 to 2019. He played a key role in the club&#8217;s historic run through the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup in 2019, knocking out USL Championship teams Orange County SC and Las Vegas Lights FC before falling in the fourth round to LA Galaxy. <strong>Bryant<\/strong> played collegiately at Elmira, scoring 31 goals in 49 appearances before transferring to Northwest Nazarene in Idaho, where he earned All-Conference honors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group ghostkit-d-none ghostkit-d-xl-none ghostkit-d-lg-block ghostkit-d-md-block ghostkit-d-sm-block\"
