If you want to be eligible to officiate continuously, you must register by June 30th each year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While some states, leagues, and clubs, have started to offer their own early referee training, education, and paid on-field experience, the first full referee certification currently offered by US Soccer is called Grassroots Referee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Requirements and costs can vary from state to state, but every sign up\/registration process involves a combination of online\/ classroom\/on-field learning, risk management\/safety and compliance components, and creating a personal profile for data management.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You will receive a current years\u2019 referee badge to wear on your uniform and a 16-digit Identification Number from US Soccer that will remain the same over time. This is including but not limited to registration, education, development, assessment, instruction, mentoring, recruitment, retention, assignment(s), administration, and any other US Soccer Referee Program Initiatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As a new referee, you will deal primarily with referee leadership at a more local level. This typically involves a local referee association, a club assignor, and or a league assignor. Tournaments will also have a designated assignor as well. Every state a local geography will operate at least slightly different from one another.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Information on how these different state and local organizations function can usually be found through the&nbsp;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/sportsengine-develop.go-vip.net\/usyouthsoccer\/become-a-referee-in-your-area\/\">State Association Websites<\/a><\/strong>, State Referee Committee Websites, or Local Association, League, or Club Websites. and we know some games get a little intense.&nbsp; ASA wants to help create a safe environment for everyone involved from the players to the coaches, spectators on the sidelines, parents trying to keep kids active, managers organize the chaos of each team, club directors overseeing the day-to-day activity, and referees because we need them in order to have games.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\" id=\"we-want-everyone-to-return-to-the-next-training-session-next-game-and-next-season-of-play-because-we-know-soccer-is-a-lifetime-sport\"><em><strong>We want everyone to return to the next training session, next game, and next season of play because we know soccer is a lifetime sport.<\/strong><\/em><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Referees have a tough job.&nbsp; We have young referees who are new to their role and trying to learn all&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theifab.com\/laws-of-the-game-documents\/?language=all&amp;year=2023%2F24\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">17 Laws of the Game<\/a>&nbsp;plus apply them to a moving game is hard.&nbsp; Alabama Soccer Association (ASA) has created a Small Sided Referee Course to try and recruit, retain, and teach the game as a referee with our youngest players.&nbsp; You will see them with bright new t-shirts\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Anyone wearing a referee shirt and USSF badge is an Alabama Soccer Association Certified Referee and deserves the right to participate in soccer environments where they feel safe, encouraged, and heard so they return to do another game, another season, etc.&nbsp; A USSF Referee may be assigned to a
